Daniel Clancy, President
A message from the president...On behalf of the Wisconsin Technical College System, I would like to extend warm and safe holiday wishes to you and your family. This is the time of year to reflect upon your hard work and achievements, understanding that your efforts are crucial to the success of countless individuals. You do more than educate. You touch lives. As one student ambassador recently said, "The college staff and instructors with whom I have worked have incredible dedication to their work with students. This drives me to succeed both in and out of the classroom." That's a thought that should give you warm holiday feelings. Thanks for your dedication and service to Wisconsin's Technical Colleges! Have a great 2007!

Governor Doyle holds town hall
meetings at technical colleges
Governor DoyleGovernor Doyle continued his tradition of town hall meetings at two technical colleges, Madison Area and Chippewa Valley (pictured left). The governor conversed with his audiences on the future of the Wisconsin economy and the invaluable role the technical colleges play in its growth.

The Governor talked about how we can enhance our economy by taking "One Step Up," a practice proven successful in Ireland. It urges each citizen to never settle on his or her current education level and to strive for better opportunities through continued education.

"If you're already an advanced PhD researcher, go a step further. If you're at a minimum wage job, take a step up. If you're in the middle someplace, take the step up. It really is in our technical colleges that we're focused on having our economy take a step up."

Inaugural Workforce Training & Economic
Development Symposium scheduled for April 24
A symposium on workforce training and economic development will provide technical college stakeholders, from deans to economic development partners with tools and information to positively affect Wisconsin's future. As partners in economic development, we share a responsibility to create a 21st century workforce equipped for a knowledge and global economy. Business partners, from the entrepreneur to the multi-national corporation need Wisconsin's technical colleges to share responsibility for innovation, business development, technological advances, and international competitiveness.

This April 24th event in Wisconsin Rapids features keynote speakers and provides a forum to share best practices and lessons learned, celebrates progress, and brainstorms ideas addressing the challenges and opportunities technical colleges face in this new role. Sessions focus on one or more of five themes: partnerships, entrepreneurship, organizational structure and staffing, information management, and workforce development
