Office of Instruction

The Office of Instruction provides leadership for the System’s postsecondary and adult education programs to promote economic and workforce development.  Education directors within this office serve as a resource to the colleges and oversee System instructional offerings in:

  • Agriculture and Natural Resources
  • Apprenticeship, Architecture and Construction
  • Business and Information Technology
  • Consumer Services
  • EMS, Fire Service and Protective Services
  • Finance, Marketing and Hospitality
  • Graphic Arts and Television
  • Health and Human Services
  • Liberal Arts and General Education
  • Manufacturing and Engineering

The Office of Instruction works with college administrators and staff to identify labor market trends and develop instructional programs to respond to the needs of Wisconsin business and industry for a highly skilled workforce, ensure high quality and avoid unnecessary program duplication.

The Office assists colleges in obtaining Board approval for new instructional programs and course curriculum.  It also conducts program audits, assists colleges with program improvement (modification and discontinuance), and oversees the development of systemwide program curricula.

In addition, the Office of Instruction provides systemwide leadership for program articulation and transfer agreements with other colleges and universities, the WTCS/UW System Joint Administrative Committee on Academic Programs (JACAP), EMS testing, and Firefighter certification.  It administers federal grant programs for Adult Education and Family Literacy and state grant programs for Adult Literacy, Basic Skills, Health Care Education, New and Expanding Occupations, Workplace Adult Basic Education.

The Office of Instruction reports to the WTCS Vice President for Teaching and Learning.
