Dr. Janet Washbon is the Associate Vice President for Policy and Government Relations for the Wisconsin Technical College System.

She has worked for the WTCS since 1988, providing leadership for policy and budget analysis, System governance, collegiate transfer issues, and economic development initiatives.  She is also responsible for working on behalf of the System with members of the state and federal legislatures, other executive branch agencies, and System stakeholders involved in education, workforce, and economic development.  Prior to coming to Wisconsin to work in the state’s labor department in 1986, she was Assistant Director of the Institute for Public Policy Studies and taught in the Urban Studies program of Temple University.  She was also a research associate and taught research methods at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Washbon earned her B.A. and M.S. at Northwestern University and her Ph.D. in regional economics and public policy from the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a graduate of the Wisconsin Leadership Development Institute.
